Customizing and Navigating Your Dashboard

Your DoulaBub dashboard is the central command center for running your doula practice. It gives you a quick snapshot of your active clients, pending invoices, upcoming appointments, and instant actions.

The Dashboard Dock & Quick Actions

At the top of your dashboard, the responsive action dock gives you one-click access to your most frequent tasks:

  • New Client: Quickly add an expecting parent, their estimated due date (EDD), and emergency contact details.
  • New Invoice: Generate and send a professional doula invoice or birth retainer package.
  • Search (Spotlight): Instantly search clients, invoices, agreements, and settings across your entire practice.
  • Create: Add agreements, log client notes, or create custom resources.

Pro Tip: Press Cmd + K (on Mac) or Ctrl + K (on Windows) anywhere in the dashboard to open Spotlight Search.

Personalizing Your Workspace

Sidebar & Navigation

  • Collapse or expand the sidebar for focused reading on smaller screens or tablets.
  • If you belong to a doula agency or collective, use the workspace switcher at the top of the sidebar to toggle between your personal practice and collective shared channels.

Dark and Light Themes

DoulaBub supports modern light and dark themes tailored for low-light environments (such as overnight birth shifts or late-night chart reviews):

  1. Navigate to DashboardSettingsAccount.
  2. Choose Light, Dark, or System theme preference.

Managing Your Practice Overview

Client Status & Cards

  • View your active clients sorted by due date or status (Prenatal, Labor/Birth, Postpartum, or Complete).
  • Click any client card to jump directly into their secure portal, agreements, notes, and invoice timeline.

Financial Summary

  • Track pending vs paid invoices at a glance without switching tabs.
  • Record external payments (Venmo, Zelle, Cash, Check, Card) to keep balances synchronized.

Next Steps

Now that you're familiar with your dashboard:

  1. Set up your business profile
  2. Add and organize your doula clients
  3. Create and send your first invoice
